Health Is Wealth
2014 was going to be a great year for me. I worked real hard to get my Master's degree and was set to graduate in March 2014 with a GPA ranking 3.9. I was at the top of my game, well at least I thought I was until I decided to go get my yearly physical.
I knew I was gaining weight because months before my physical I stopped smoking cigarettes. When you go to the doctors, they make you get on the scale to get your height and weight and seeing the scale at 208lbs was way too embarrassing to deal with.
About a month later, after not hearing from the doctors office about my results, I called them to see what happened. The doctor advised me that they had been trying to contact me at my home (and not on my cell that I put down as a second contact) and that my cholesterol was 272 and I should be on medication. I advised them I do not want to go that route and chose to diet and exercise.
On the next three month visit my cholesterol went down and the weight was coming off. I cut 99% of the fast food out and replaced it with grilled chicken and salads. Today, I remain at a healthy 170 lbs and my cholesterol is under 200. Its still a struggle to keep myself on course, but I won't let medicine defeat me.
Don't ever give up on yourself. Nothing worth having comes easy.
